The Youth Employment Service (YES) is an initiative that calls on business to help the government create critical work experience for young people across the country. The YES Programme aims to create one million work opportunities for unemployed black youth, and transform the lives of these youth while helping to grow the businesses in which they are placed. It is a business-led collaboration that seeks out ground-breaking ways, through innovation and technological best practice, to reignite the economy and give youth a dignified first chance.
YES focuses on making the youth more “employable” by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills and giving them a chance to demonstrate their abilities, establish a work ethic and prove their worth.
PCI Africa has taken on 12 candidates through the YES programme, fulfilling roles in environmental management and care at the Sabi Sands Pfunanani Trust in Mpumalanga, as well as in our core fields of Engineering and the built environment. These individuals will be trained and moulded into valuable members of our team.
The YES 12-month quality work experience equips unemployed youth with a toolkit to be a beacon of hope for their families, households and communities. According to past experience, the CV & reference letter they get at the end of their 12-months gives them a 3 x greater chance of an interview call-back.
