Motswedi Water Treatment Plant
REHABILITATION OF THE EXISTING WATER TREATMENT PLANT
Republic of South Africa – Central District Municipality for Zeerust Local Municipality – Contract LWB 1/2002
The project scope entailed the rehabilitation of the Motswedi Water Treatment Plant located next to the Sehujwane Dam, near Lehurutse, North West of the town of Zeerust.
The 90 M3/Hr capacity plant primarily consists of a new concrete flocculation basin, feeding an existing settling tank, which is modified to tie in with the new structures.
The settling tank feeds two new dual media filters along with all associated pipe work valves and backwash blowers. The treated water is pumped from the treated water tank to the site reservoir. Backwash water is drawn from this reservoir and is gravity fed via a flow control valve to the filters during the backwash process.
Dirty wash water and discharge settled sludge is transferred via new pumps to the on site sludge lagoons.
New electrical, instrumentation and telemetry equipment is provided to control all new and existing equipment.
